Although former county grounds at Basingstoke and Portsmouth could not cope with downpours overnight and during the day, both games at Privett went ahead after a handful of club stalwarts carried out some necessary tasks.

One of these was stand-in 2nd team skipper John Adams, and he was delighted to win the toss and bowl. Alex Campbell (3-22) soon put Cadnam on the back foot, and after leading wicket-taker Mark Oxford (3-18) further tightened the screws, the visitors limped to 127-7 in 45 overs. In contrast Simon Creal 61 n.o. and Gavin King (47) raced to a century stand within 15 overs, and an 8 wicket win was clinched before 6 p.m.

Another stand-in skipper to get full reward for his labours was Mick Eggleton, but a 4th team win looked unlikely as they slipped to 65-7. However Harry Selway (68 n.o.) picked a great time to get his maiden half-century, and he put on an unbeaten 111 with Mick (28 n.o.)  as Bedhampton IV's wilted.

Early wickets for Harry & Jacob Harris then set the stage for Gareth Marshall. who despite only 1 league wicket all season, proceeded to cut through the middle-order with 5-40, and despite a bried rally the visitors were all out for 97.

Could you please take a few minutes of your time to complete the GBCC 2016 club survey.  This is your chance to tell us what you think about how we run the club and what you think we might be able to do better! We’d really like to hear your views….providing they’re clean and constructive!!

Please bear in mind that we’re all volunteers who run the club in our spare time!

Paper copies of the surveys will also be available in the Pavilion and I’ll be handing them out to you so there’s no escape! All completed surveys (if you put your name to them!) will be put in a draw and the winner will get a free drink!

If there’s any aspect of the club that you’d like to know about first before completing the survey, please don’t hesitate to ask me or our Committee members.

Many thanks,

Pete Robson

Our club needs Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Helpers!!

We are in need of more qualified coaches, coaching assistants and helpers to assist our small team of existing coaches run our various age groups of Colts next season.
It's essential that we keep the Colts running not only to provide our players for the future but also to ensure we remain Clubmark accredited, which is a prerequisite of the club being part of the Southern League.

If you're interested in being a coach, assistant coach, or if you can offer any help at all with the running of our colts, please let me know asap!
It doesn't matter if you can't commit every week to help running the colts, we'll organise things so you can help when it's best for you. Not only do we need additional coaches and assistants but we need parents to help in any way they can, particularly on match days with organising refreshments, collecting match fees, scoring, putting out chairs etc etc.
